AtScale creates software that enables business intelligence on big data for some of the largest organizations in the world. We’ve been doing this for over 5 years and we are expanding our team in Sofia, Bulgaria. We’re a company of around 100 people who love solving difficult and meaningful problems.
You’ll be working on the Backend Team which includes around 12 people. The Backend Team is responsible for the heart of AtScale, the Engine which handles query processing, aggregation and caching, graph planning, security, delegation and query transformation, among other things. You’ll be working on a team that provides mentorship, guidance and opportunities to greatly expand your knowledge of Scala, functional programming and writing code which is executed within a highly concurrent, distributed environment.
You’ll probably end up interacting with our other teams as well, including Product, Apps, QA, Field and Support. We’re a pretty tight-knit group and a growing startup, so be prepared to get to know your colleagues.
The ideal Coworker
- – Have experience with or are interested in learning Scala
- – Love solving actual problems for actual customers who are critically dependent on your code
- – Might have some experience with business intelligence
- – Might have some experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, BigQuery, Redshift or Snowflake
- – Enjoy producing the finest of hand-crafted source code
- – Have a certain tolerance for uninvited puns
As a Backend Software Engineer, you would be working on a stack that largely involves Scala and big data technologies such as Hadoop, BigQuery, Redshift, and Snowflake. We’re also constantly interacting with SQL, MDX and the other tools and technologies our product connects to. We deliver enterprise-grade software on a quarterly basis.
We use git and Github for source code control, Slack for the vast majority of communications, Docker for our development environment, Jenkins for our builds, and Macbook Pros for our work machines. We also like to ensure our developers have their ideal hardware setup, so whatever that looks like to you, be prepared to tell us ;p
