Hadoop distribution leader resells AtScale BI on Hadoop technology worldwide
SANTA CLARA and SAN JOSE, Calif., (Hadoop Summit) — June 28, 2016 — Hortonworks, Inc.® (NASDAQ: HDP), a leading innovator of open and connected data platforms, today announced it will resell technology from AtScale, the first company to provide business users with a fast and secure self-service business intelligence (BI) platform for Hadoop. With AtScale, users can query data as soon it lands in Apache™ Hadoop®, without any data movement and from any BI tool.
“Our customers want simpler and faster ways to get insights out of the data they’ve stored in Connected Data Platforms,” said Scott Gnau, chief technology officer, Hortonworks. “This partnership will allow both companies to accelerate the adoption of BI on Hadoop and allow business users to create more value from all of their data.”
Hortonworks Connected Data Platforms are at the center of modern data architectures, and leveraging Hadoop’s enterprise scale and speed for BI and analytics provides business users with actionable intelligence. In fact, the latest global Hadoop Maturity Survey reported that 94% of organizations are planning to deploy more workloads on Hadoop and that BI was a top priority. The combination of AtScale with Hortonworks Data Platform (HDP®) allows customers to easily use their favorite BI and OLAP tools directly on Hadoop. This partnership also simplifies BI by eliminating the need to replicate data and maintain traditional data marts. Both companies already share customers, on premise and in the cloud. Additionally, AtScale technology has been available on Microsoft Azure HDInsight which is built on HDP.
“With this partnership, we aim to provide global and universal access to our technology,” says Dave Mariani, founder and chief executive officer, AtScale. “From day one, our goal has been to make BI and Hadoop work in harmony by erasing the friction associated with moving data and forcing end users to learn new BI tools. Hortonworks joins us in this vision and they are the perfect partner to help achieve this goal: they have a large distributed presence, a vibrant partner ecosystem and a market approach that makes AtScale technology available to millions of people.”
Today’s announcement is the latest pillar of Hortonworks’ strategy to resell key technologies that optimize Connected Data Platforms for customers. In addition to AtScale, Hortonworks has recently expanded partnerships with Pivotal to offer professional customer support and professional implementation services for Hortonworks HDB powered by Apache HAWQ and Syncsort to resell its DMX-h for onboarding ETL processing in Hadoop.
Hortonworks will begin reselling AtScale in Q3 of 2016.
