Employee Spotlight: Kieran O’Driscoll

Kieran O'Driscoll

Kieran O'Driscoll

We believe in our team as much as we believe in the promises of our technology. When you join team AtScale, you join a team of supportive colleagues who foster a culture that provides you with the tools and support to reach your career goals. Today we’re excited to introduce you to Kieran O’Driscoll, Business Development Representative, who shares how he got his start working for us and what it’s like to be a part of the AtScale team.

What is your role here at AtScale?

A: I’m a business development representative, primarily focused on both the EMEA and APAC regions.

How long have you been working with the company for?

A: I’ve been working at AtScale for almost 10 months.

What does a “day in the life” look like for you?

A: I start early. To hit the ground running, I make sure that I’m organized and ready for the day prior. That being said, I focus on APAC activities in the morning then I make the switch to EMEA activities later on.

Talk to us about your career journey so far. How has your career grown since working for AtScale?

A: AtScale is my first job out of college and I don’t think that I could’ve gotten a better start. The ability to learn a wide variety of skills and not be pigeon-holed into a certain role or list of responsibilities gives someone who is fresh out of college a lot of flexibility to figure out their future career path. I’m constantly being exposed to how other parts of the company operate and are dependent on one another to grow the business.

What did you study in school?

A: I did a BSc in Computer Science and an MSc in Business Information and Analytical Systems. I studied both of them at University College Cork.

For those who are unfamiliar with AtScale, how would you describe what we do?

A: AtScale decouples storage and compute in a governed way. We enable organizations to adopt the right tool or platform for the job. Every organization is on some form of cloud or data transformation and AtScale accelerates this journey and future proofs their architecture going forward.

What should customers and prospects expect to see from us in 2020?

A: They should expect to see continued growth, more customer success stories, and additional functionality.

What do you find to be the most unique feature of our technology that is changing the way that organizations use their data?

A: We don’t move data. As data volumes continue to grow, companies usually address this issue by creating data silos or making big data small.

What is a common challenge that customers are trying to overcome in the new year?

A: A big one that I’m seeing is data inconsistency. If you ask the same question and get two different answers, then you have a much bigger problem than not knowing which one is correct.

Tell us something about yourself that people would be surprised to learn.

A: I was a golf caddie for four years and I couldn’t swing a golf club to save my life.

When you’re not in the office, where can people find you?

A: Out and about with friends, usually around a pint of Beamish.
